48 Panhead Spring Fork - stupid question?

Hi Guys

When this bike was stripped my photos show that the spring fork was installed with the forge bracket id (TC-20 TF ...) towards the rear of the bike. The fork looks symmetrical to me, but a picture in Palmers book p100, shows the id facing forward?

Is Palmer correct?

I think originally they were installed with the casting #'s facing they rear like your fork was. Jerry

And they are symmetrical so they fit fine either way.
