Model 51 gen convert to 12v

I have what appears to be a model 51 radio generator, someone removed the cooling fan and installed the smooth end cover but it has the cooling vent with shroud toward the gear end and has the ratcheting gear, unfortunately the ID plate has been removed. Has anyone converted one of these generators to 12v, I read and old post on another forum that all is needed is to replace the field coils with 65A field coils. This just sounds too easy.

For convert that Generator into 12 Volt the armature need to be rewind and other field coils too. Ask Paul Benassi, Maplewood MN (612)719 5383,
