  • 1950 EL Main Nozzle Question

I'm building an M-61 Linkert and I do not have the correct 27333-50 main nozzle. I do have several 27332-50, M-74B main nozzles. My question is, can I use the 74" main nozzle on a 61" carb without problems ? Everything else on the carb is correct for the M-61, venturi, fixed jet, etc.

I should just wait for someone smart to answer these.

      For all we know, Craig,...

      It might run better.

      (Better highways and all.)

I can't wait to hear your results!

PS: With all due respect, Kitabel..
Cutting a fresh nozzle is routine for some: Just need the specs and too much money.

PPS: I think this M74 (no 'B') nozzle on the left might be "correct" maybe.
Stupid Parts Book sez they're all the same.
      Needles be different.

Kitabel; Thanks ! I didn't even think about the nozzle length sticking out of the thicker venturi.

Cotten; If I get the correct nozzle, I may swap it out before I start it. Right now I'm fighting an oil leak behind the front tappet block. I put a quart of 60 wt. in the oil tank a few weeks ago to check the feed line at the pump. And I'll be d***ed if oil is gathering behind and in front of the front block. And I haven't even fired the S.O.B. up yet !!

As far as I can guess, Craig,..

All 1½" Model nozzle spigots are the same length.

          But that's a dangerous guess.

PS: Even a more dangerous guess might be that the adjacent cylinder base stud had been over-torqued to where it cracked the case to the oil gallery.
          Nevermind. Bad memories..... ... .. .

Cotten; According to Palmer's book the nozzle you show on the left is the nozzle for the M-61. At least it matches his description.

I found them in M74s, Craig.

And 1½" Model nozzle spigots are anything from thirtyseven sixtyfourths to nineteen thirtyseconds.

Great info ! I'm going to leave the M-74B nozzle in the carb and see what happens.
                Thanks, Craig
