i'am restoring a 57 pan and i powder coated my foot boards, now i think they are supposed to be parkerized [ palmers says] does anyone know know if this is correct, ive seen so many ,painted black on 57s ?? thanks chris

That is interseting. I am not an expert, but I have never seen anything but black, either. I know I got some original military boards, that I drilled out the rivets, removed the metal boards and put original rubber footpads on. -
I HAVE SEEN THAT AFTER POWDER COATING YOUR FLOOROARDS YOU TURN YOUR BEAD BLASTER WAY DOWN AND LIGHTLY BEAD BLAST YOUR BOARDS. THEY LOOK ALOT LIKE PARKERIZING AFTER YOU SPRAY WITH SOME KIND OF LIGHT OIL. HOPE THIS HELPS. I HAVE A 1960 FLH THAT HAS EARNED 99 POINTS AND MY FLOORBOARDS ARE PAINTED BLACK AS PER PALMERS BOOK. ODDLY HE DOESN'T LIST 1957 FLOORBOARD FINISH.....Comment
