1948 FL Panhead Speedo required

Hi, I have an existing speedo on the bike so I'm looking for a complete speedo or someone who can modify the existing with new back face, disk, needle etc.

Only quote I have is for $900 + tax and delivery

You're not alone.
I've ridden my Panhead for fifty years without any speedometer.
It was gone when I got the bike in the 1960's .. a previous owner had replaced it with a neatly cut circle of sheet metal, carefully riveted to the dash.

Recently, I got the urge to see something more than a blank panel between the tanks so I bought a bone on Fleece-bay and began to dig a grave !
They're not giving vintage speedometers away anymore.
What you could once buy at a yard sale or cycle swap meet for a few bucks now costs hundreds of dollars, with hundreds more needed for restoration.

One tip I can give you is: any original Stewart Warner 509 series speedo between 48 to 61 has the same internals and can be re-faced to look like a correct original 1948 for your scoot.
So .. if you can find a bone like this at a decent cost, it may be worth restoring.s-l1600 (112).jpg
