    saddlebag springs

Does anyone know if springs are used on the lower mounts for Royalite bags on '54-'56 panheads? The '58-'68 parts book I have shows springs, but, of course, the mounting rack differs from the earlier style. Palmer mentions that springs are used to mount the early bags, but I don't have any literature regarding those. If, indeed, springs are used, I'd like to know the length of the spring. It appears as though the I.D. is probably 1/2" and the O.D. is 3/4". I will probably guesstimate the spring pressure.

The swingarm mounts use springs, rigid don't.

I have been using clutch springs for many years, seem to work fine.

As John says, no springs on the rigid mounts.
