I need help with the removal of the axle sleeve on my 54 hydra glide, what is the procedure to remove this axle sleeve. Need to service(seals) front end. All help greatly appreciated.

Is your wheel off? The sleeve is slotted on the wheel side so a flat steel strap fits into the slots to hole it and remove the nut. After the nut is off it slides or drifts out of the fork leg.

Rubone, the slots are just to hold the sleeve for the removal of the nut. If I understand correctly with the nut off the sleeve, it should slide out of the lower leg( its not threaded into the lower leg).

Correct, it slides out. there could be corrosion restricting it, but good penetrating oil and judicious application oh heat should allow it to come out. It is just a slip fit in the leg.
