  • 53 FLF Clutch Booster Setup

I have adjusted the Clutch and Hand Clutch Booster per the HD manual. The 'Clutch Lever Rod Lock Nut" is threaded all the way in and there is still 1/2" of free movement between the "Clutch Lever Rod and the "Clutch Activating Lever"; target is 1/16". By rotating the "Clutch Booster" on the frame, I was able to get the proper free play but now the "Clutch Lever Rod" is bent like a bow. It works but looks wonky.
    • The play in the primary chain is 5/8"
    • The transmission could be adjusted back 3/4" if the primary chain were longer

Seems like I am missing something and would appreciate some insight.
    Thanks
    Steve

Take the derby cover off. In the middle of the clutch assembly you'll see a slotted screw and a 9/16" hex lock nut. Loosen the nut and turn the screw in. This will move your throw-out arm back. Take it back so that there is 1/16" to 1/8" play between the throw-out arm and the clutch lever rod.

      That makes sense.

I had adjusted it till I reached the 4-1/4" (Foot Shifter Housing to outer Edge of Chamfered Slot in the Clutch Activating Lever) and then moved on.
      Thanks
