I made the tool in the picture to hold the oil pump shaft while putting the snap ring on. It's a 28 gauge sheet of steel. The plastic sliders (bic pens) help wedge it into the snap ring slot and they also help with removing the tool. The snap ring will go about 7/8ths of the way on with the tool in place. The last 1/8 pops in when you remove the tool. The pic shows the snap ring in the 7/8ths position just before removing the tool. Possibly this isn't something new on the forum but I haven't seen anything like it so I thought I'd share it.
