Newbie owner of a 1965 FLH. I was told by an old timer H-D mechanic that my oil tank is not correct for '65. Can someone provide any information or possibly a picture of a correct oil tank for 1965?

If the tank has a side-fill spout on it, it's incorrect for '65. Not sure when they started that, probably sometime in the 70's. Also, the winged cover is a one year only affair for FL's. the spinner on the top is longer than later years. Hope this helps -

The side fill tank started in 1970, and was a fairly common retro fit for earlier machines.
