The plug in the end of my cam on the cam chest side on my 48 FL is loose and was laying behind the cam bushing in the cam cover, how important is this plug? If it needs to be there any thoughts on making it stay? Thanks Dave

The plug is pressed in and keeps the cam bushing and crank under oil pressure, if it falls out the crank will not get the oil it needs.
Never seen this, press back in, if loose you need a new plug or a new cam.
