Hello!

i have run the CCI aftermarkethand shift tanks and they actually worked pretty well, the impression for the gate is good and in the right position as well as the rod style petcock.

they are a decent alternative if you cant find HD tanks and if you can get a CCI dealer to give them to you at cost!!

dont really like the cci gas shut off's though, they never seem to shut off all the way...

Joel, while looking throught the V-Twin/Tedd's Cycle catalog I noticed that they also have some good pics and part numbers of the parts you'll need. They sell a shift gate with a straight slot that would allow you to do the conversion and still keep your transmission's ratchet top if you want to avoid some trouble and expense. Not original but nobody will know except the guy doing the shifting. They also sell a complete kit for the police style jockey shift that I mentioned earlier. This is a repop of the original Harley hand shift setup that was used on '66 and up bikes. This arrangement mounts completely on the frame, including the shift gate, so you could use the tanks you have now unaltered. Serious show judges will shoot you on sight if they see this on a '59 but most other people won't know the difference plus it's a little different from what you normally see. I know there are issues with some of V-Twin's parts but I've found that I can usually modify them to fit the application they were designed for without too much trouble.
