Does anyone know ANYTHING about this engine? Just bought one, a 1948 F model... How many where made are they valuable or better than FL's?

Low compression engine designated for commercial (package truck, escort duty, etc) or sidecar use. Other than the low compression it is exactly as every other '48. Nothing special, just built for low speed lugging. If equipped from the factory with a sidecar it was designated an FS although only the F appeared in the serial number. It may have originally had a three speed or three speed with reverse gearbox although a four speed was also possible. It isn't a "special" engine unless you consider factory de-tuning as special.Robbie Knight Amca #2736
