    Tom
I spent a good 3 hours with a sharp pocket knife whittling the excess solder away. I thought about calling a friend of mine who has a set of adjustable reamers, but I was concerned about any cutting into the brass, so I just whittle it away and finished by using emery cloth and the venturi as a guide. If you think the video star was rough on the nozzle you should watch this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rup3t0XqXpE

      What's your shop's hourly flat-rate, Herman?

      ....Cotten
PS: Clicked off the video in seconds when I saw the babbitt maul in action.
What happened to common sense, like at least clearing off the workbench? Those motorcases were bouncing.

$30/hr Its a part time job. I pick and choose what I work on. If I valued my time on my own bikes I'd have 10 times more invested my my bikes than what they are worth.

I worked on a guys knucklehead last year and I just quit keeping track of hours after 20. I probable spent 30 hours. I billed him for only 20 hrs. He was so happy with the work he tipped me $100.

The guy in the video did not seam to care. I could not believe how abusive he was. It was commented that the carburetor had been chrome plated with the venturi still in it. But watching these gave me the idea of soldering the eyebrow up.

I was ready for the rosebud torch to ignite the aerosol can.

If I watched such things for more than a minute, Folks,...

....I would be back on Lisinopril.

              So Herman,

Was scraping the bore (or was it the nozzle) gratifying?
Some 'rewards' are worth more than money, I know.
(Hollow-ground triangular scrapers are essential, especially the ones that levitate as attached.)

But Liberty would be out of business if we didn't refinish a bore in half-an-hour.
It would take that long for the band-aid soldering alone, when lucky, not counting clean-up, gas, loaded-up honing stones, etc.
So I cut to the chase...

Tom If you were not closing down for the winter to catch up I'd shipped this carburetor to you. I don't have to equipment to correctly work on this stuff, and what I do is not very good.
I just soldered up the nozzle and took it to work where we have an old Craftsman lathe that was small enough to dress up the nozzle. Doing so It give me a fit as the lathe is loose but I did manage to get it done. 100_0760.jpg100_8083.jpg

                  Herman!

Linkerts are forgiving, and I'm certain it will run just fine.

But your employer should at least spring for a 'live center'.

After 3 weeks waiting for the NOS throttle disk it arrived today. Long story that I will not get into.
The NOS disk measures 1.5635 where the old one I was battling with measured 1.560. The camara did not show, but there was just a little light showing on the top of the throttle body. But its sealed all the rest of the way around. If I had machine tools when I soldered up the "eyebrow" I would not have been able to see any light. But I feel like my problems will be solved. It might be a while before I can get the bike out on the road as weather is turning bad.

                      Such good luck Herman!

You got one a thou oversize, when few are the full 1.5625"

I have come to believe "NOS" means 'not our spec', and that's why it went on the shelf.

PS: Uh,... You didn't ask for a 9/X?

                        9/X ? Lost me there.
                        It was listed as 1 1/2"( #12) OEM # 27280-40

I started the bike up last night and adjusted the carburetor. It has never started this easy and idled so smooth. Maybe Sunday it will be nice enough to get it out on the road.

It probably won't make much of a difference, Herman!

But yours came with a 9º disc, and 'bevel's on both sides adjacent to the idle bleeds, on the left in the attachment.

Bad choice of words on my part, Herman..

Instead the carb 'came' with a nine degree, I should have said "was produced".

Only a dyno can tell us which performs better.
