  • 1965 Rocker Covers

What is the correct material for late 65 rocker covers? Stainless, aluminum, or chrome? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Terry01!

    Anodized aluminum.

Yes, clear anodized and it's hard to find a plating shop that still does clear. I like that look.

It seems that the anodized pushrod covers were gone by 1965, so.. when were these used? Anyone know?

Pretty sure '61 & '62 only. Not sure on when & where in the production #'s they ran.

I had some covers that I peened the dents out of, sanded smooth (500 - 600 grit) but didn't polish. Took them to a plater that has done 'new' machined parts for me in the past and specified clear anodize. They did clear but the covers and tubes came out more of a grey than silver. Anyone experience this before? Should I have polished the covers first? Don't mean to hijack this thread, but it may help you too. Thanks for any input.

Aluminum pushrod tubes were used 1960-1962.

This is how mine turned out, all suggestions welcome on why? My prep fault? Platers fault?
Re plated on top of used oem.

                      Bob!

Since you need to "save" them any way you can,..

("Original' went out the door of course.)

I would explores various soft wheel brushes, such as "Adalox", "Nylox", etc., as well as any natural brushes that may still be available.
The skill aspect is to avoid "brushy" cross-hatches and the like.

If you find any unique and effective techniques, please post me direct!
