Harley mystery generator

Hi all,

I have this generator that came in with some parts I bought once.

Pictures below.

Just wondered if some one could please identify it for me ?

I believe it's panhead era Harley ?
Or maybe slightly later ?

It has the 4 spline drive, just like the 32e generator that is on the WLA 45".

I'm not sure what model Harley it would suit though ?

I don't know anything about the Harley models post WW 2, so hoping some one here can tell me what models it is for.

It's not like any HD generator I have ever seen. If, and I'm only speculating, it's a HD generator I would think perhaps from a DL...aka 3 cylinder HD.

Yes, I reckon you're dead right !

It had never occurred to me that it might be from one of those D / DL 45" models from the later 20's / early 30's !

Since you posted, I have now looked through a parts book & riders book for a D / DL, & sure enough the generator is definitely from a 1929-31 45" D or DL !
