  • Panhead oversize valves

What are the "pros and cons" of using the factory oversized valves in worn valve seat heads? Any special equipment requirements? I have several older valve seat grinding setups, Sioux, KO Lee and Hall. So I should be able to do this myself if no special equipment is required. Does anyone have a copy of HD factory service bullitens for this? Or is it better to just send the heads off to Head Hog and have the seats rebuilt? Just exactly how does he do this? Not to worry I won't try the valve seat replacment myself, I believe in old Panheads it is best to leave that to the experts.
    Thanks Cam

    Cam!

Since the oversize valve saves a sunken seat for another lifetime,
    there are few cons.
The pros are not only economic, but it avoids the pitfalls of a conventional seat replacement.

I think I read that Kibblewhite is now producing bronze replacements similar to OEM (attached), which is key to avoiding the tragedies associated with steel seats.

My K.O. LEE seat outfit came with Hupmobile literature and cast-iron seats that fit Chiefs, but cuts aluminum well, too.
