Sprocket sizes

Can someone remind me how the different motor sprocket sizes affect performance? Is it bigger sprocket more top end?

Yes, same goes for tranny sprocket, the more teeth the more top end theoreticaly anyhow. If you gear too high you can overwork your engine, but I am sure you already know that.

Thanks. The reason I asked is I am putting together a 61" panhead motor that originally had a 24 tooth main sprocket. I want to be able to run at highway speeds and not sure if that is a good choice?
