I am rebuilding a '53, and when primeimg the pump for fire-up, I was astounded to see oil well up into the overhead oilscreen passage. I was further perplexed to see it continue even when I had the ballcheck passage totally sealed off with my burnishing tool!
I took the pump back off to find that the feed gallery to the hydraulics comes straight from the pressure side of the pump, and not after the ballcheck.
Obviously the motor shall soon fill with oil. What was the Factory thinking????
I need to know of any prescribed update for this, hopefully one that does not involve much drilling, as the fresh motor is totally assembled and in the chassis. Thanks in advance.
