2 questions how many in 50 and what carb

I have a 1950 Pan FL 65XX and am trying to find out how many pans were made in 1950

which leads to my question of what carb should be on my bike

mine was a barn find not touched since 1964 and has a m36 on it now

Published factory production numbers say there were;
ES 1268
EL 2046
FS 544
FL 7407
total 10265
The M36 was used on the early 61" engines in 1950. Later 1950 61"s used a M61. When is early and late? If you subtract 1000 from your serial number your 55XX seems to be about in the middle.

which carb would be for the 1950 FL 74" with the 65XX ser. number

That would be an M74, Glenn. Tricky, how they numbered um, eh?

Once again the 1950 F models are a split year. They started out with a M45 and sometime during the year switched to a M74. The M74 is listed as "Late-1950-Early 1951 F and FL. What is late and what is early? Once again you are in the middle.

pics of the 50 with the gas tank removed they were all gummed up inside and had to be cleaned. Now the whole bike is in many pieces and being totally redone

this was sitting in the guys garage since 1964 covered up in the back corner when I found it only about 1 mile from my office
