were the early 48 lifter blocks cast iron . If so about what VIN # did they change thanks

I dont know if the early ones were cast iron but my 48(VIN just over 7000) has aluminum lifter blocks. -
My '48FL had the iron lifter blocks, exactly like the aluminum versions. I do not know the VIN off-hand since I sold it and it now resides in Ohio or Wisconsin, I think. It made Winner's Circle so the VIN should be in the judging database. If I find the VIN, I'll PM you. But it was an early one with the right hand case cast like the knuckle case.Lonnie Campbell #9908
