  • EL Brake Pedal Return Spring

I believe there is supposed to be a pedal return spring on my '46 EL brake pedal. Looks like it goes from the footboard mount bracket to the lowest of the two holes near the pivot.

Yet, I rarely see these springs on bikes and not even in most of the photos where I can discern that area... is there any reason they are so-often left off or were they deleted intentionally? My intent is to put on back in place (i have the correct spring) but wondering...

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

There is an excellent factory photo of the brake setup on page 122 of my Palmer book. It's actually a photo of the optional rear brake lock, but clearly shows the correct installation of the spring.

That means Motorbooks, Inc. still owns the copyright, but aren't printing it, but no one else can, so it goes like Bruce's How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson. He is free to start from scratch, or YOU CAN, sitting there on all tha original source material, Robbie!

When the Motor Books International stops publishing Bruce's books the rights come back to him. All he needs now is someone with a lot of money to publish the books, with all the updates and corrections that MBI refused to do, for him
