A friend of mine has a 47 EL engine and is looking for a frame. The VIN is 47EL75XX, I told him that he needed the late 47 frame. I just dont want to tell him the wrong frame. Any input/info is great appreciated.

My experience is that between 6500 and 7000 is when you start seeing late frame but Jeff Coffman has a bike that he claims is original paint and has a 11,000 serial number and sports the earlier frame. I have never seen the bike.

My 47 FL has 79XX vin. Number with a bull neck frame, it also has crazy handing characteristics, probably another thread, but sure wants to wobble.Comment

I've always heard the last 4000 bikes or so produced in '47 used the late frame. I have 47FL117$$ which has the late frame.Comment
