I have a Big Twin front fender that has the "butterfly" patches over the fender braces. My question is how long were the "butterfly" things used ? Are they an early feature, or were they used thru 1947 ?
    Thanks,

A while back I sold a very original Thin Brace Big Twin Front Fender that was never drilled for side trim and did not have the Butterflys. With no side trim and the fact that it did not have Butterflys I though the Fender was 1938? That would make me think they were used for 36-37 and MIGHT have carried over a little into 38? Maybe someone out there with an early 38 might respond?

The side trim holes are not standard on all fenders. Many bikes were built after '39 with no trim on them and narrow brace fenders. I have had several over the years. We used to refer to them as police fenders but that was likely not very accurate.

I believe the butterflys were last used in 1937. Mid year 1946 the fender braces changed from narrow to wide.
