  • Fender Light Question

What year was the "GUIDE PH-6" no longer on the bottom left edge of the fender light? thanks-Bob

    Bob,
I can't answer your question, but I recently looked into the same questions about the fender lamp for my '47. I couldn't find detailed info in Palmer's book but I did find some somewhere, maybe here in this forum. I'll look around. I know the guide stamp was not used in 1947. There is also a difference in the wire hole placement in the base plate. Whether it corresponds with the guide stamping, I don't know. Looking at your name, if its for a '48 I'm pretty sure it would not have it. -Bob

I have three Front Lamps that have the GUIDE logo on them. One has nice crisp letters that look like day one from the factory. The other 2 range from slightly worn off letters to the third on that only a few traces of lettering that can only bee seen if you look really hard. Somewhere I remember someone mentioning that as the Mold or should I say Die that stamped them throughout the years wore the letters wore off also. Question is when that happened? I guess only a very very original documented bike could tell the tale??

My early factory photos don't show any bikes with the light. My post war photos show a few minus the GUIDE.
