  • J-Slot Air Cleaner question...

Still learning about vintage parts and came across a 7" J-Slot Air Cleaner assy. that did not have the tag riveted on top of the cover but has the stamped instructions on top like a later ( hole in the center ) cover. The cover is not stainless. Any info would be appreciated. Thank-you from the newbie! Rick

If it has a center screw it probably is not a J-Slot. J-Slots A/C Covers interlock with the Backing Plate in 4 places which are called the J-Slots. If your Cover isn't Stainless it probably is a retrofit or later produced by HD Cover.

Ooops, I reread yout description and your Cover does not have a center hole? I haven't seen a J-Slot cover with stamped instructions? I think? Maybe 55 only? Can't remember?

46EL, yes the cover has the slots, no center hole and is not stainless. Thank-you, A.

Some of the later production factory replacement covers were made with the stamped instructions rather than with the riveted plate. I believe this has been discussed before. Do a search of the posts.

I have the same "J" slot a.c. cover with stamped instructions, but mine is stainless steel. I'm too lazy to go through all of the old posts so I'll be curious to hear from someone who knows what year it is.

              That's what I have, too.

                What's this?

(Clue: Baked "porcelain" with no tag rivet holes.)

Is that the Martha Stewart signature model?
Maybe just a gool ol' home cooked repair.

That looks suspiciously like the repop from Maiden America.
