In the process of resurrecting my 46U2774 flathead I have been striving to get information about the starter pedal. It came in two versions, an early without and a later with a lock plate. It also has a spring and a spring cap on the axle to apply pressure on the block to prevent it from spinning/shifting back and forth.

Can anyone on the forum shed light on this pedal:
1) When did the shift from the first to the second version take place?
2) My hypothesis is that the durability and quality of this pedal was not very high, so most people replaced it when worn out. This could explain why it is so difficult to get information about it.
3) Could anyone supply detailed images/drawings on the different parts of the pedal?
