Anybody have a fix for the 1936 to 1940 with a rough bearing surface,

    Jerry,

I'm not familiar with the mating part and bearing cage for the setup, but.... Maybe mount the hub on a transmission shaft and turn it between centers, grinding to a new finish. Then install oversize balls, or even rollers? I did something similar on my Excelsior clutch. Even just polish with emery cloth and use rollers, rather than balls. I filled mine with as many rollers as I could fit, no cage. It works great and really, the only time it rolls is when the clutch is disengaged. Also, by filling with oversize rollers and making the fit as close as possible, the entire clutch assembly will be more stable when running engaged, less wobble.

How many do you need? I have some NOS ones I could bring to Wauseon. Dennis
