    Is the head of the bolt on top or bottom? This same bolt on earlier years the hold the horn mount bracket go in the same way

    Harley put the bolt pointing up in very few places because the bolts are more apt to stay in place if the nut comes off if bolt points down. A couple of those points are 2 on front of trans mount & one at horn mount to handlebars on springers. The trans mount had castle nuts with cotter pins to keep it in place.

      I like your comment, Roger. I've always believed that gravity may claim the nut, but the bolt or screw may stay in long enough to keep 'kit and kaboodle' together.
