Hard to use this as a market indicator - I would say it is an outler based on the build quality and parts used matching belly numbers and such-and you have to figure in the noteriety of the builder ! Also the year being one of the tougher to come by JMO

Yes, that is quite a price tag. I remember seeing an original patina Knuck at a Portland Connecticut swap meet in the 90's for $3,500.00. My how times have changed.

I like when they were just old bikes because in reality, that is just what they are. Transportation. Not an investment property for Credit Card Bikers. You think that 80 thousand dollar bike will be driven every day through the woods and the snow like it was designed to do? It's not a bike anymore. It's a coffee table.

Was out riding my pile-o-parts 41FL rider yesterday. Stop to get gas. Fella asks me, in a not so nice way, what are you doing riding that? I'm having fun. He says where'd ya get it?? I decide not to tell him the long story and say, Indiana. Then he says, what did you pay for it??? All I could say was, ...enough.... Most people just ask what year and say cool bike, or start a friendly conversation and I tell them about its life as a chopper and buying it in boxes. Not this one, maybe he thought it was not supposed to be ridden. Ya never know.

I sort of thought those museum raffle bikes were loaded with Taiwan Ted parts. ?

I still think the 1939EL was the most beautiful Knucklehead. I almost got one, but the seller talked me out of it by saying it was too mis-matched, and hacked on. What a lousy salesman, or a good guy; regardless, I wish I hadn't listened to him.

Thats a nice bike/nice job thanks for sharing .....hard to believe it was once a chopper ! Nothing against choppers but the Knuck and its art-deco styling is classic. A feature I have always admired about HD is the way rocker box covers and fuel tanks merge together giving a cohesive look to the bike !! First year for Cat Eye dash and 7 inch air cleaner correct ? first year stainlesss trim on tank but soon to be halted with WW2 rationing-and I like the two tone Brilliant Black and Flight Red very catchy. Also first year for the bigger engine 74ci even better!

When ya consider where this country was heading that is a awesome year to own!!!

                    Deebs47

I hear ya ....I just bring up the topic because I think we are in a bear market with these antique/classic bikes and I honestly believe this is juat an outlier and I see the seller has a 47 for sale as well.... at 29k now !

Yeah I went on a few trail rides with my sporty back in the day but I can't see doing that today.

My only concern with 1939 is neutral being between 2nd and 3rd ............. but I am always up to learning a thing or two and because it is a hand shift its a different dynamic anyway!!
