47 FL exhaust pipe finish

Getting to the point of installing the exhaust on my 47 project. The 47 in the HD museum seams to have a gloss black finish on the exhaust system. Obviously machines in service will quickly dull out that finish. So my question is, what type of finish did late 40's HD's have when they left the factory?
