One of the reasons I questioned the cylinders was because of the combination of DCs, with the front being 9-30 while the rear was 3-30. I’d seen that F and R combo before and another similarity I noticed in the other pairings I had photos of was that the DC plates had screws. But why screws? Why not tacks? And why did that particular F and R combo keep cropping up? Also notice the style of those two DC plates. Why are they shaped like that?
Another Knuckle front cylinder I’d seen belongs to a member of this forum and I think it is genuine H-D. It too has 9-30 but its DC plate has tacks which is what I’d expect. And its DC plate is shaped as I’d expect, meaning it is different to the DC plates on the cylinders on the Mecum/ebay bike.
Also I couldn’t see a casting number on either cylinder in any photo via Mecum or ebay. IF those cylinders were H-D, wouldn’t they both have a casting number?
On the Motortechnic site it says in part: ‘OEM cast [sic] numbers with Hall mark [sic] sigh [sic].’
On each Motortechnic cylinder I see a casting date code and a casting hallmark but I don’t see a casting number.
