    Tank Trim

I'm trying to install the stainless gas tank trim on a 45 FL and getting very far. Are they just supposed to snap on, or what? help!

Yes, they snap on. I generally start close to the emblem to get the spacing I want and work them to the other end. Your tank mounting strips must be clean and paint free to allow the SS trim to grab and lay flat. A bit of light grease can help also to allow the edge to slide over the mounting strip edge.

      Robbie,
My mounting strips are painted. The SS strips are aftermarket and almost seem too small to actually snap over the mounting strips. we'll see...
      Thanks

I went through this on my '41 Sport Scout. I wasn't feeling secure about how 'secure' the trim strips were on the mounts so I used some adhesive RTV under the strips.

I'll consider that once I actually get the strips to fit on the tanks, ha
