  • 9 and 6 bolt Delco 16 horn nuts

The nuts that hold the horn together nad the face plate on the parts book shows part number 105 which is a Brass 5/16 10/32 nut .Some of the original horns I have have 5/16 10/32 steel Cadmium and some have 11/32 10/32 steel nuts.Colony sells a 11/32 10/32 steel nut .Any ideas on which is correct. The socket sure fits better on 5/16 when tightening them

Dear Dan, the horns were bought-in, and Harley chose the nearest stock part number to match for the parts books. The early slotted screws lasted only to about 1932, after which Harley did not always keep up with the running changes made by AC Delco. Some of the later horns have little coach bolts with coarse threads, so there are several types of fixings. I would also be interested in a listing of which fixings, and which finishes, are used by year.
