I'm trying to figure out if the WPB plastic grips were still in use in 1947 or not. In Palmer's 3rd edition, the factory prototype is identified as a late '46 production bike with '47 tanks and a few other odds and ends and he mentions that to be an authentic '47 it would have rubber grips. Yet other photos in the book show bikes at dealers or post-delivery with the plastic grips. I could see many being restored with rubber ones since the plastic waffle grips have gotten hard to find. The prototype police bike photos also show plastic waffle grips. Thanks for the help!

Understood on proto pics, that still doesn't explain actual bikes post-delivery or at dealers with the plastic grips. Also doing a search on Google of OP '47's there's a wide range of stuff out there, including some OP's with the waffle grips. Plenty with Flanders type set ups and CMS or Beck grips.Originally posted by duffeycycles View PostI think rubber..proto pics are not always production parts
