Asorn nuts for front springer leg

were all the acorn nuts for the front springer leg a nut with a cap on it or were some solid

Dear Dan, they came out in 1936 on the VL and I think they were solid. At some later date they were reduced in cost by putting a cap over what I assume is a standard nut. First year was chrome, wartime parkerized, and maybe cad some time in the middle.
