shifter rod finish

does any one know the correct finish cad or park for my 47 knucklehead shift rod and fittings . el53xx i have seen them both ways

With a number of 53XX it was most likely in the Parkerized range.

thanks rubone thats the best i came up with talking with friends no one seams to know the cut off date so parkerized it is

In the third edition of how to restore your harley davidson. Volume 2 on page 1056 it clearly says that the shift rods were cad plated.on the 1947 Knuck.

Read page 1056 again, and page 1057. Both indicate the mid year change in finish.
