does any one know how tell a repop oil tank from a original. Thanks for your time ..

I have a repop from aaok , probably from vtwin, from about 15 years ago on my 46. The only difference I noticed was the inner primary /chain guard mount weld is only partial and not complete like on the oem tank on my 47. Also the front mount was welded on a touch too low and required the spacers between the battery plate and frame to be removed. Other than that it is good quality and has worked well.

I think there is a difference in the oil line nipples.
