I’m working on a 41 ULH and I have what I believe to be a correct oem inner primary cover that’s missing the drain and upper mount but is in excellent condition otherwise. My question is what goes over the drain hole to connect the drain line to? Most I’ve seen are aftermarket and only have a hole and no provision for a line. Also does the correct derby cover has a dimple in the center?

Anything you can tell me about if it’s correct for 1941 is appreciated.Attached Files- 5D5C6ED8-96AA-4764-906D-3B5E8484551A.jpeg (166.3 KB, 187 views)

Otis, I think what you have is for 1955 to early 1959. It has the large hole in front for the Timkin bearing left engine case and 3 elongated bolt holes for spacers. Also the location of the drain nipple behind the clutch. In Late 1959 the drain hole was moved forward.

Otis, I held a late inner primary up to a knuckle left case The holes do not line up and there is a considerable gap between the primary and the case. You would have to fabricate a spacer and weld up the bolt holes and drill new ones. There could be clearance problems with the engine sprocket, too. I would suggest getting a pre 1955 inner primary.

Notice the location for the engine breather. The U models have that hole much lower.Be sure to visit;
