Thanks for posting but I’m not surprised there are no numbers on top of the rear mount of an EL. Some say the number 6 was used there to indicate E/EL but I found no evidence to support that story. AFAIK the factory didn’t stamp anything on top of the rear mount to indicate E/EL.

Just out of curiosity, has your R-H case got anything stamped on the side of the relay bracket boss? Perhaps T or C?

Eric; There is nothing stamped on the relay boss. Maybe it is that my motor is a late 1950 production ?CIMG1374.JPG

Thanks Craig. I have nine examples of T in that position. One is on a case with a high 1949 BN and the other eight are on 1950 models. The T above is on a case with BN 350-1+++ and another also has 350-1+++. Two have 150-5+++ while another has 150-7+++. I don’t know the BNs for the remaining 1950 models.

The C above is on a 52 model and I’ve also seen it on another 52 and a 51.

Some work to be done on the fill plug threads and the usual cracks around the starter crank ..

I think those grinding marks on the outside near the data tag are typical as they can be found on others as well..

Rein; That is a good cover and the repairs are easy for a competent welder and machinist. And it will be good for another 70 + years.
