That risks hydrogen embrittlement.
Certainly you have seen crankpins with the copper, as well as pushrod adjustors, Pan rockerarms, and the like.
I was told the parts were literally submerged in molten copper during the heat-treat, and then machined afterward.
Certainly not a cheap process!
Ulf needs the nickel that nobody wants to produce correctly, even the platers with antique motorcycles themselves.
