Ok, I know this topic has been beaten up so why not beat a dead horse.
I've read some interesting articles about after market valve guides and the dimensions of the collar that holds down the rocker tin not allowing bottom collar too fully seat on the tin thus with any small movement of the guide the tin can loosen and leak. Guide can be modified to allow collar to fully seat on tin.
All that aside does anyone think or perhaps tried to open the guide hole in the tin and just use the collar/spring pressure to hold down the tin. Kinda like the S&S setup.
Only reason I'm thinking along these lines is it causes a lot of waste full remachining of valve seat and valve however minor, not to mention the hassle of taking head's to a machinist.
I use Hannans in Hayward. It would make any future repairs simple.
Outside of ruining an expensive set of tins if it didnt work does anyone think it plausible or just stick to conventional?
