    1940 Knucklehead Carb Installation

I am installing a Linkert M25 carb with a 428-40 manifold on a 1940 EL. If I don't use an insulator block, the float bowl stud lines up perfectly with the 1936 to 1940 support bracket. However, the choke rod is too long. Does the 40 EL require a special choke rod?

    Jerry!

Your Parts Catalog implies the choke rod is one year only, and the insulator block wasn't invented yet.

Beware, coat hangars ain't what they used to be...
    ...but they still work.

    Good luck,

Thanks Cotten. In-lieu-of looking for a good vintage coat hanger, I'll try modifying the later model choke rod I have.
