  • Speedometer Cable

Because I'm thinking about having my '47 FL judged this year, I'm finally attending to all of the annoying things I must correct in order to try to make it to Junior-First (it's not a fresh restoration). To that end, my speedometer never worked. After disassembly I notice that the Speedometer head works and the problem is the aftermarket cable; the outer cable is 36" long whereas the OEM outer cables were 35-3/4". As best I could measure, the repro. inner core is slightly under 36-3/4" as opposed to the OEM length of 36-21/32". As a result, the speedometer end of the core doesn't engage the square drive in the speedometer head.

AND THE QUESTION IS: Is anyone making correctly-sized, Cadmium-plated speedometer cables??

Thanks and Happy Easter to all!

Hi, Bill. You could ask Ralph Dollarhite - he made a nice cable for my 1950 FL. Contact info I have for him is: recyclehd@yahoo.com. On another forum his phone number is given as 703-472-6886.

Cheers, and happy Easter to you too!
