Hello Larry S. .....OK, here we go... Anybody? What does Palmers new book say is correct for 36 to 39 Knuckleheads?
About 20 years ago I was told that the early Cycleray Headlights were BLOCK/GUIDE letters.
Bought a bunch of them throughout the years and then a few years ago I noticed one on a very original unrestored Hummer had one??
A few years ago someone from New Jersey who bough the last of my stepped hub wheels said early knuckles used BRASS, BLOCK lettered Buckets with no rivet.
But I thought all brass buckets were chromed and not all early Knuckles had chrome buckets?
I checked all my block letter buckets and all of them were steel and not brass and a bunch of others and have never seen one.
And somewhere recently I remember a discussion about a steel Script Headlight with NO number on the lens above TOP
but either a number 2 or 3 down bottom right AFTER the Made In USA and NO ground rivet.
I have one of those with a number 3 that I bought years ago and it came in an opened -36 NOS box but I don't think it was NOS?
And what about late VL's? Someone with an original unrestored 35 or 36VL might be able to tell us what their bike had?
Any experts out there as far as Cyclerays go? 46EL

It is all detailed beginning on pg. 562 of Mr. Palmer's new book and I believe the details on the headlights to be accurate.

I have been told by quote experts that the early Cycleray light on the 35 is with Block letters and on the inside by the mount the ground is with a screw not a rivet.
I have also been told that you can convert the one with a rivet to a screw , don't know but I do know its Block letter not Script

Have found and purchase the original step hubs for the bikes and the rims

The 3rd ground wire started during Wartime Production. 1941 and earlier don't have a ground.
