The bike seems to have spent its' whole life in the Chippewa Falls/Eau Claire, Wisconsin area. Gene, the guy I got it from remembers the bike back into the 50's when his friend owned it - a guy by the name of Bill Smith who ran a funeral parlor. He knows that Bill bought the bike from Hi-Way Motors which was owned by a Gene Wiebel and was the HD dealer for a short time. The question I have to search out is whether Bill purchased the bike new or used but a rumored price of $300 was brought up which if it was true would indicate it was bought used because the list price for a OHV in 1947 would have been in the $700 range. That is all that I know about it at this time. Oh, and by the way I paid considerably more than $300 for it.
