Not sure what model this number fits. My Pan rear drum is 41400-58..........the 41409-58 looks close but of course mine is all mounted on bike so a closer comparison I cant do....

Where did you get the part number 41409-58? Does your face plate set into the drum or over it? Bob

raised casting number on back, clear as can be. Swap meet purchase, though I have not seen the number before, once but with an A at the end, clearly no A...

41409-58 is a casting number not a part number. Harley used the same casting right up to 66. just that 62 and down have an internal lip cut into a long the out edge so the face plate could slide in. Late 62 brought the wider brake shoe and the face plate now fits over the drum. I wrote a paper on this about five years ago and posted it here but I can't find it. What exactly is your quest here? the drum is for sale and in very good shape, guy is advertising it as a mechanical drum. I told him I believed it was for a later hyd. Pan and that the 58 or 58A at the end could be throwing him off. However he was sticking to his story. I am looking for a replacement for a 61. He only wants $65 shipped but the number threw me off if it was right for my application.......

RE-read my post, don't see where I called it a part number, maybe so, was un-intended, lol....

But what are you looking for. The early internal face plate or the late 62 and up. Ya got to read my post again and go out and look at your bike. Bob

                  sorry Bob,
looking to see (at first)if it would fit 58-62. I am familiar with the backing plate (fitting into a more or less machined grove) on mine, however while I say the pics are good the one shot of the shoe side does not show clearly the grove, I have asked him to send a clearer pic. The number threw me for a bit and his determination that this was on a rigid Pan, and trying to be diplomatic suggested it was off of a later juice setup.
To do as you asked, trying to see what this drum actually fits, first by casting number, then by pic if poss......

Its still a good buy, just want to know more about application

Here's the problem. The earlier drum has a extended casting ring around the outer edge. The factory cut it off on the later so you can't just cut the indentation. I always felt that this was deliberately done to make sure you couldn't reto fit them but that's an opinion. Ya better make sure what your buying. Bob L
