  • carb question, linkert

Today I noticed when prime kicking my knuck a bit of fuel spitting out from low speed needle, never noticed it doing that before, normal or cause for concern. Doesnt do it while running, not that I can see.

    Poorbiker!

    When its full, its full.
Further kicking with the choke closed just allows any reversion at all to pressurize the idle circuit.

How many kicks before you see it?

(Just one or two should be enough to start the machine.. when all things are in order....)

Typically 1 kick, gave an extra just to see it again.

Also Cotten what do you typically get on your FL for mpg on a good running motor, mine seems a tad low though engine not completely broke in and I'm running it a bit on the rich side.. straight highway I'm getting 33.5 mpg. Seems low even running rich. M74, 18 jet,

My FL hasn't had gas in it in years.

Anything over thirty is reasonable for a heavy machine with today's fuels, but certainly there are things to consider for improvement (beyond the obvious of timing and other adjustments).
The first would be the buoyancy of your float; Some on the market are real boatanchors.
