I do like that '25. First year for the new 'streamliner' and right there in the middle of the 1920s Jazz Age, but for me, that was not as desirable as the '24 and earlier boxier Harleys. H-D was always making their motorcycles better in performance and continuing their adherence to quality, and new technology of the time, so every year was a progressive, and positive push to make their motorcycles the best in America. However, I think Indian did have a (conceptually) better motorcycle in 1925 than H-D but Indian did not have the commitment of management, engineering, or dedication of manufacturing to offer the better motorcycle they could have manufactured. In 1925 the Big Chief Indian had a super strong frame, side-valve motor, great transmission, and helical gear drive which put it above H-D, but greed, stupidity, and short-sighted disregard for Indian workers, dealers, and customers really bit them where it hurt.
