I am working on a set of 29 J cases. I am trying to bore the cases to take a 5 th over left case race. Clocking the case joint face showed it was not flat, and i suspect it has pulled the race area out of square, as the crank races are not in alignment.
I am considering bolting the case down to a heavy plate and heating up the top half that is not flat. Hoping this will relax the casting and let it return flat. Has anybody done this before, or is there a better way of doing it.
The right hand case is also not flat, in the opposite direction as the left case. Like the cases have had a hard knock to move the top of the cases to the left. It is only the top 1/4 of the cases that have moved.
Any help or ideas appreciated. Cheers
